Great to see - thanks for the update!
In light of this decision my Transport & Environment Committee will now have to revisit the vote taken on the Braids Estate LTN.

O SWEET SONNET
Dear Love to Ride copywriters, can you lay off the energy drinks plz
It's essential that the decision to rip out the quiet route is now revisited. I have written to senior council officers to request this.
It's important to note that both Councillors cooperated fully with the Standards Commission.
It's also important to note that there are a lot of Councillors who manage to _not_ get pulled up by the Standards Commission for their conduct.
This demonstrates that the vote to rip out the modal filters and other active travel measures in the Braid estate was not only unjustifiable, but also arrived at by a tainted process which must now surely be revisited.

Here was me thinking the congestion was due to all that extra driving! (DfT Stats roadtraffic.dft.gov.uk/local-author...)

A close-run matter in which two councillors โ one of whom not even usually on the Committee! โ voted in breach of the Code of Conduct surely cannot be considered a democratic agreement to remove filters that have made streets quieter and safer for residents and those travelling through the area.
The controversial and surprising vote to remove highly effective traffic calming measures from a residential area and re-introduce up to 6,000 vehicles daily โ on a 'quite route' for walking, wheeling and cycling spanning two primary schools โ must surely now be revisited at Transport Committee.
"The Panel agreed, therefore, that both councillors should have declared an interest, withdrawn from the meetings and taken no part in the discussion and decision-making on the matter. The Panel found that their failure to do so amounted to a breach of the Code."
โ ๏ธ Today, Standards Commission hearing (Councillors Neil Ross & Marie-Clair Munro) found both had breached the Councillor code of conduct for failing to declare they lived by the Braid Estate when dealing w/ Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route, including their votes to remove effective traffic filtering

Are the "congestion-causing" bike lanes in the room with us right now? ๐ฎ ๐ซ
We strongly concur with Spokes' assertions that the missing central link in CCWEL needs finished ASAP - even if this an interim measure with 'temporary' infrastructure. www.spokes.org.uk/2026/02/prin...

A close-up of a blue road sign on a lamppost has been knocked to a jaunty angle, pointing down nearly to pavement level; the sign depicts an icon of a bicycle peeking out behind layers of stickers and a green box showing this is quiet route number โ6โ, with text reading โKings Buildingsโ and 2 (assumedly, miles). In the background of the image, which is focus blurred, we see people and vehicles moving around a square with greenery and bare trees in the center.

What a terrible day to have eyes
Start of election hustings article... Spokes/CUK Election Hustings #Holyrood2026 Spokes and Cycling UK are holding a joint election hustings, on Monday 16 March, for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election, to hear from Holyrood candidates on cycling and related policies. Rather than the usual hustings approach, which can be rather boring, our meeting will comprise several sections, with speakers undertaking Initiation, Interrogation, Combination, Clarification and Education, as in the agenda below.
Submit a question If you have a question for all candidates (โCombinationโ section above) please email it in advance to spokes@ spokes.org.uk with the subject line hustings question. Note that questions to individual candidates (โInterrogationโ) can only be asked in person at the meeting, after their Initiation speech.

From what I understand; theyโre responding to an Edinburgh org sharing your article, with their own post that shows the correlation between speed and patronage to be even starker in Edinburgh. As an Edinburgh org responding to an Edinburgh org is was a local value add and doesnโt dispute anything.
