Ep 60 - The Org Chart Dies Last Microsoft says the Frontier Firm is born. The real frontier is whether we can govern what we’re about to delegate.

We are not building a new kind of company. We are building a new kind of institution. And the institutions that last — the ones that earn trust, that survive their own power — have never been built on efficiency alone. They are built on the willingness to answer for what they do.

SYNTHETIC EDEN | Kirkus Reviews In Titus and Platt’s SF novel, a colony of humans discovers horrifying secrets on their newly chosen planetary home after fleeing a dying Earth.

"Making the refreshing choice to cast both the main protagonist and the main antagonist as women, the authors showcase epic worldbuilding while developing three-dimensional characters."

"A smart, twisty take on interplanetary living with plenty of heart-pounding action."

Huge appreciation for this first step into real measurement. It’s one thing to run a model through an in silico benchmark and watch it ace a virology exam. It’s another thing entirely to put a pipette in a novice’s hand and see what happens in a real lab.

Ep 58 - Legitimacy Without Consensus Responsible-by-design reframes legitimacy as something that is earned continuously, not bestowed once

We have come to believe—implicitly, often unconsciously—that if societies cannot reach consensus on the risks and benefits of a technology, then governance has failed. That disagreement itself is evidence of irresponsibility. That the absence of unanimity delegitimizes action.

Every serious disagreement about emerging technology eventually collapses into a fight over zone placement. Not because people are irrational, but because zone assignment encodes values, incentives, and risk tolerance—often implicitly.

Ep 56 - Zones of Proportionality The central principle is simple: governance intensity should scale with risk, not with rhetoric

The central principle is simple: governance intensity should scale with risk, not with rhetoric. Secondary is that, zones are not static, and we need to continue to update our thinking.

Ep 55 - Governance Latency by Design When governance moves slower than system behavior, even well‑intentioned designs become dangerous

Much of the public debate about emerging technologies focuses on intent. Were developers careful? Were safeguards included? Were ethical principles articulated?

These questions matter—but they are insufficient.

Governance latency is the common thread.

Ep 54 - A Vignette: AI × Bio and the Vanishing Middle Accelerationists vs. catastrophists in the decade defining convergence

In the absence of proportionality governance becomes symbolic. Ethics reviews devolve into box-checking or veto power. Real risks—like poorly secured synthesis pipelines, model sharing, or fragile oversight capacity in under-resourced labs—receive less attention than hypothetical doomsday scenarios.

Good technology should change the world Technology can be a powerful force for good. It can also be an enormous factory for harmful ideas. We tried to keep both of those things in mind when creating the 10 Breakthrough Technologies of 2026.

I would rephrase - technology should change the world for good (outcomes)...

Ep 53 - The Collapse of Proportionality Proportionality is how complex societies remain functional in the presence of uncertainty

I’ve been thinking a lot about why so many of our technology debates feel…stuck.

It’s not just polarization. It’s not just incentives. And it’s not a lack of intelligence or good intent.

It’s that we’ve lost our sense of proportionality.

2025: The year the Frontier Firm is born Intelligence on tap will rewire business. Every leader needs a new blueprint. The time to act is now. The question is: how will you adapt?

I have had the privilege of building frontier tech for over a decade. Since the pandemic, Ive been building frontier organizations. 2025 truly was an inflection point that changed how institutions will be built forever.

People are the critical link in the system. Empower them to build the frontier.
