But it's also pretty confusing, no?
And yeah, I also don't appreciate that in China it's often pretty difficult to know whether a dish contains meat or no just by looking at the menu

Nothing says LLM security theater like Claude Code asking for permission to run `cat filename` in the terminal to read a file in the project folder. It has tools for that, but sometimes, like a human, it prefers the hard way.
We are still obviously in the early days of all this mess.
Wow π€©
I can't understate how good of a job the @inkandswitch.com folks did at this Automerge website. Wow, holy shit automerge.org
And the fact that you can *interact* with the visual demo at the top?
This is the new high bar for a technical website. Holy moly.
@julianhofer.eu Thanks for "Scripting Is More Fun With Nushell", helped me a bunch with ideas on what a clean language should look like.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed reading it π
Want to elaborate on that? :)
βRaise your hand if you were able to install everything with pixi and run the simulation-based inference tutorial notebook.β

I don't really see why I'd use it tbh.
The main reason my repos are large is temporary data like virtual environments or compiled artifacts. So shared .git doesn't really help me.
Also it has annoying limitations like I can't checkout the same branch IIRC
As AWS open source just turned our request down, anyone have contacts at Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure who thinks they might be interested in donating cloud credits for an educational tutorial at SciPy 2025?
Marimo is an excellent project. Powerful like Jupyter and reactive like Excel. It also fully supports Pixi π
While I've been attending @scipyconf.bsky.social since 2019 and helping to organize SciPy since 2021, #SciPy2025 will be my first time teaching a tutorial at the conference! Hope to see you there, and looking forward to great experiences with the tutorial participants.
The times are a-changing
A US colleague just warned me that 'AI is reading every word' when I emailed on the current trumpian disasters for US science (indicating it might cause trouble at future US border crossings)
Wow, feels like we're moving back to USSR times with self-imposed censorship
Looking forward to meeting you then π€
Agreed, I wasn't involved there so I feel really comfortable that recipe v1 is extremely well done
That's great to hear π
Interesting. Will pixi build help you there?
Is R used in particle physics?
Or do you mostly see Python and Matlab for scripting?
I'd be interested in that as well. Relying on conda-forge should make R developer's life much easier
The tj-actions/changed-files compromise prompted me to write up how I secure GitHub Actions workflows using SHAs without maintenance pain
Go from insecure to security conscious in < 15 minutes, including configuring automatic updates through Dependabot or Renovate

I've seen a lot of Python folks getting super excited about `uv run --with ....` and I get it now. In @conda.org world, you can do the same with @prefix.dev Pixi!
A colleague wanted me to debug something with PyArrow on my system and all I had to do was:
```
$ pixi exec -s pyarrow python
```

Yeah, I live in the metropolitan region of Munich. Would love to meet up. Just let me know when you know more!
π Say hello to py-rattler-build!
π¦ Now you can build conda packages directly in Python! It's never been easier.

Available on conda-forge and PyPI! π
π Great news for Windows users! The latest version of PyTorch is back! π₯³
π Huge thanks to the @condaforge community for fixing the builds.
π§βπ» Installing PyTorch just got a whole lot easier!

Super helpful guide for installing PyTorch using pixi from @prefix.dev prefix-dev.github.io/pixi/v0.39.4... This is point of confusion for a lot of people so itβs great that there is official documentation now.
Now out: version 0.101.0 of Nu. This release adds a simplified startup configuration, several new commands, and additional tools to introspect the Nushell engine. www.nushell.sh/blog/2024-12...
Happy holidays from the Nushell team!
The Python package sbi is now on conda-forge. github.com/conda-forge/... With @prefix.dev's pixi you can now get a full CUDA environment (pixi.sh/dev/features...) and sbi installed and ready to go in under 60 seconds (maybe under 30) with 3 commands (if you count your text editor as 1).
@sabrina-m.bsky.social hier hast du einen anderen Physiker mit der selben Ansicht π
