I’ve used Libre Office for years and definitely recommend it.
I’m also not sure if it’s something that can actually be solved. Some kinds of economic activity naturally coalesce around population density, and I don’t think any government policy can really change that.
There seems to be a big conversation going on in US politics Bsky today about the urban/rural divide, and my one contribution to this discussion is to point out that the urban/rural divide is a pretty consistent feature of politics in the wealthy democracies.

People like to gamble on the results of random number generators. Usually they don’t like to bet on things that are explicitly random number generators; usually it is more appealing if things are dressed up a bit. So people will generate randomness with a shuffled deck of cards, to play blackjack or baccarat or poker, or with a pair of dice, to play craps.
From a recent @matt-levine.bsky.social column. I would argue that many people *do* like to gamble on things that are explicitly random number generators; that is, after all, what a lottery is, and lotteries are one of the most popular forms of gambling.

OK, but . . . why? You can still play the original on modern consoles or PC, and the version you can play right now already looks good and modern. It's not like this is some old Playstation 1 game that you couldn't play on a modern TV because the fonts are unreadable.
