Me going through the stages of grief of Apple's software turning into the same freemium slop as everything else..
@gruber.foo New "Creator Studio" variants of iWork apps not only have a non-monochrome icon to "advertise" the subscription, they gather analytics by default as well (no idea if that's compliant with GDPR/CCPA).
Really did not expect Apple to just follow the freemium playbook with their apps. π
I feel like a broken record saying "That's not how this works. That's not how _any_ of this works!" for the best part of the past 20 years with regards to all kinds of technology. And it doesn't work because we're working against PR departments that very much want people to believe in such "magic".
