It has been almost six months since he had to close his shop due to local unrest, leaving him in a difficult situation. Dejene does not want to return to Ethiopia and become dependent on his family.

During this time, he witnessed the harsh realities of crossing borders, including the deaths of fellow migrants and their imprisonment. After living in South Africa for more than two decades, Dejene still has not been granted a legal residence permit.

This means that the misleading information affects not only the Prime Minister's followers but also others who consume content from these two media outlets.

So, why does this matter? It is misleading to present these images as representative of Ethiopia's "apple farming." The post was also copied by the government-run national broadcaster EBC and the party-owned FMC formerly FBC, AMC.

For instance, the first image in the top left corner was published on a German news portal called inFranken on January 20, 2022. The article discusses how to prune fruits in late winter, and the copyright owner is credited under the image.

Which can be easily verified through a reverse image search. This means the pictures do not depict Ethiopian "apple farming" as claimed in the post.

These pictures were released by the verified X account of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with the caption, "Our apple farming productivity is showing progress."
However, there is one significant detail that is incorrect: the images were originally published elsewhere on the internet,
