tonight I saw the Bad Plus with Chris Potter and Craig Taborn, and they played a whole set of American Quartet (Keith Jarrett et al) tunes. fuckin... insanely good. absurdly good. nice to be surrounded by jazz freaks again, it's been a while

yeah, it's interesting to see the divide. imo the possible passivity of consumption has something to do with it. you can put on music, tv, movies in the background, so it's easier to devalue them as things you can blow through with little attention, aka not worth buying individually
