“Ah Guan is getting the shit kicked out of him. Barnaby Liu, boxers baggy around his ankles, brings his toothpick legs down on Ah Guan's head over and over again. Old leather lightning, striking six, seven, eight times. Clutched loose in the old man's fist, grungy porno-pulps with titles like 'My Wife Is An Armpit Landlord' and You Think You Could Snap My Neck Without Getting Your Pussy Ate?' flap like nervous pigeons before taking flight. It's probably all the getting kicked in the head, but he swears Barnaby is so steaming mad that his liver spots bulge like a frog's vocal sac with every blow.

It is literally the easiest thing in the world to get a medical discharge. I know of someone who got it for claiming erectile dysfunction. There are so many resources for how to leave. If you stay it is a choice and a genocidal one. And I have no sympathy

It’s a bummer and my feelings about my work struggling to find a home over the years got a little too wrapped up in it, but yeah, it’s their loss ultimately and I’ll just find another home for it
