Poster for Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster given a 4/5 rating
#Zillathon2026 5: Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964)
The pantheon gains its most iconic villain (aside from Godzilla himself). Unfortunately, Ghidorah is underutilised, and the serious human story and wacky monster antics mesh poorly, but it's a highly entertaining watch regardless.

Poster for Frankenstein Conquers the World, given a 2/5 rating
#Zillathon2026 Gaiden: Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965)
This film's premise of Nazis using Frankenstein's monster as a superweapon suggests high camp, and its plot of a misunderstood human monster suggests high drama, but it ends up unsatisfying on both fronts. Well-directed, but poorly paced.

Hercule Poirot's Silent Night. Sophie Hannah, 2023.
A decent enough detective story, but I feel I would have liked it more if the author used her own voice and creations instead of having to pretend to be Agatha Christie

You may laugh, but the Macbeths are a much better role model for a marriage than Romeo and Juliet. They discuss their problems (killing the king of Scotland), share their hobbies (killing the king of Scotland), and resolve their conflicts (by killing the king of Scotland).

#Zillathon2026 4: Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
A solid kaiju classic that boasts a generally strong story with good themes, likeable protagonists, entertaining villains, and a skilful blend of serious and camp. Mothra's futile self-sacrificial battle against Godzilla is as tragic as it is hilarious.
