My current go-to stack for coding small, 1-2 person projects is just Django with Tailwind and lots of vanilla JS. It's simple, reasonably fast and works great.

We pay lots in cruft for frontend/backend separation and the heavy frameworks that come with it. Always pick the right tool for the job!
