[1] Yesterday, the House passed a Department of Homeland Security spending bill that would funnel millions of dollars in additional funding to ICE to terrorize our families, children, and communities.
Congress is considering a bill that would provide statutory authority for states to use federal TANF funds toward anti-abortion centers, also known as crisis pregnancy centers. TANF funds should go to families with low incomes, not toward centers that shame women.

▶️Laid off half of the U.S, Department of Education’s workforce as a deliberate move to effectively begin closing the department without required Congressional approval.
▶️Issued an executive order threatening any elementary, secondary, or post-secondary institution that would allow transgender girls to play on girls’ sports teams.
▶️Announced that federal funding for SNAP benefits will not be sent to most Democratic-led states unless those states provide additional information about recipients’ citizenship status. Several of these states are now suing over the requirement.
▶️Withheld $11.4 billion in grants to state & local health departments focused on addiction and mental health & programs like fighting infectious diseases.
▶️Issued an executive order declaring English the “official language” of the U.S.
▶️Rescinded the protected areas policy designed to protect immigrant families, causing children to experience the trauma of seeing trusted adults and peers arrested.
▶️Manufactured longest government shutdown in U.S. history rather than extend tax credits to make health coverage affordable for workers and families.
