Lukewarm take: "friendly reminders" are passive aggressive
Assessment in the AI age. Is it even their work? Do they even care? What are we to do?
USyd offers a two-lane approach: secure or open conditions. This doesn't sit well with me. Here's my attempt to explain why.

Some editors are failed writers, but so are most writers.
This is the strategy to follow right now. Keep doing the thing, but as a consultant. The world needs you.
my sweet and gentle Jesus.
hard no, you salivating deathgrift morons
More dumb AI shit no one asked for while the world burns and people forget how to relate to each other π
Sharing a writeup of the thinking informing my #ThirdSpace Symposium presentation. If you dwel in the university's third space, what are your expressions of this in-between imaginary. @eam0.bsky.social @davecormier.bsky.social @joanncattlin.bsky.social?

Is that a bill and ted reference you just thought you'd slip in there quietly
Person with their open hand raised and spread in front of them. The word "no" is written in red on their palm.
Why is it not ok to say no to GenAI? Yeah, I know they're slipping it into our drinks, so a hardline policy of "none for me thanks" is not going to result in an AI-free diet.
But last time I checked, when someone ignored your choice not to consent, that didn't make your choice irrelevant.
What is going on? I am not sure if I am awake, or on Earth.
Be there! Hosted at the Unimelb campus on Sunday 1 Dec.
PS. I apologise for making Bluesky weird D:
Are you saying that less, or more, things are bleeding than I would expect?
I think it's only creepy if you're not into bleeding crucifixes.

Are you a university #thirdspacer? If it were a physical space, what would the "third space" actually look like?

I note the subtle distinction in your phrasing: not "teach A chemistry class", teach MY chemistry class".
bird sounds
Look today I feel like "X" was pretty apposite
I respect your position -- I feel the same about "vegan prawns". BUT try vegetarian duck it has changed my life
Perhaps the aggressive critic in me is driven by wild optimism π₯² I make the "eating meat" analogy because even though carnivory (shh it's a word now) has been around a hella long time, we're still seeing social change in the form of meatless alternatives and growing acceptance for them.
... I do object to your suggestion that critic-creator-consumer represents an "ideal scenario". The argument "it's not going away" isn't a case for eating meat or excluding minorities, and it's not a case for using AI despite moral objections. But yay for liminal identities and transitions! [2/2]
So many three-pronged category lists of AI-orientation. "Doomster, booster, critic", "critic, creator, consumer", "apostle, atheist, agnostic". I always violently object to "there are X kinds of people" claims, so I love that you've emphasised the intersections. It won't surprise you that... [1/2]
