So, finally I have remembered to log back into this app after wiping my phone a few months ago.

A sporadically unscheduled creative commons music podcast. Named after The Fall. Also codes video games (since days of the N64), tinkers with (mostly old) hardware. (He/Him) Here sometimes, but more commonly at https://mastodon.scot/@edinburgh_man

There is a new podcast! I've done in my back, so rather than kneel in a tiny cupboard I record a podcast outside. Yes, I know that you've missed those quality outdoor recordings.

The cheap and ubiquitous USB capture devices are generally terrible. I wonder if a Retrotink 5x / 4K and an HDMI capture box is the way to go to properly preserve some of this stuff, at least in a semi amateur capacity.
I found that the VHS and SVHS capture in particular was pretty difficult. Even sourcing good quality SVIDEO cables was harder than I thought. I need to use a contemporary Canopus capture box, but that also meant using a laptop with a FireWire port, and then some software that still worked!
I've also digitized a few off air VHS recordings. That's more fiddly and somewhat unsatisfying in terms of cataloging in a way to store, access and playback. Plex for example isn't great for things that don't cleanly fit into their library structure.
I have digitized a fair few tapes. Prerecorded music cassettes. Many are albums that exist on streaming services, but I've dumped all those now. Some are obscureish 90s magazine freebies. Incredibly many of them still sound very good. Got a cheap Nakamichi deck off eBay which probably helps.
I really like this track "My Brakes" by Thrower featuring Fuvk. It will be in the next podcast (tomorrow?) so this is a sneak preview.

Current obsession. Posts on the Steve Hoffman forums where one users asks what the best pressing of this or that is, and then there are 25 pages of contradictory replies.
@tobyhadoke.bsky.social Hi Toby. I watched your documentary on David Whitaker today. Wonderful and heartbreaking. I hope the correspondence he had with a fan towards the end made him realise how much he and his work was loved, at least by fans if not the Beeb. Lovely to see all those photos too.
Forgot to register for the neurodiversity meetup π€
The track by ELLiSΒ·D has a fake ending - just in case you jump to the natural conclusion that I have messed up in the editing of the show.
Brace yourself. For there is A NEW PODCAST!
Spanish punk. French Indie-Rock. Mid-West Bedroom Pop. North West Folk and more.
Featuring music from Zero AzΓΊcar, ELLiSΒ·D, Wonderflu, @finalpassion.net, Lace Banjo and Julien Orlando

Interesting coincidence! After a discussion over tea tonight with our boys about Iceland the shop trying to copyright the name Iceland, I ending up educating them about the "I hate Iceland" guy. 15 years ago next month. Never forget.
I shall make a podcast this week. I know, I've promised this before. But this time it will happen.
It's also Bandcamp Friday, so there may be some recommendations perhaps? I think at least half the tracks are "name your price".
@beautiful-cosmos.bsky.social Been listening to you on @marcrileydj.bsky.social and @gidcoe.bsky.social on catch-up (a day behind as ever) and loving it! Just bought the album on Bandcamp and saw that the very first thing I bought on that site was The Maple Leaves. All coming full circle!
Laminate flooring is finished in the bedroom. My knees and thighs are not happy. Probably shouldn't have skipped leg day for the last 35 years.
It has no redeeming features whatsoever. It is a masterclass in appalling UX design, with side orders of incompetent rollout and corporate failure.
Well it was a good run. Almost a year of sticking with the old one. But today I have been forced to update to the new Sonos app and I can report it is still abysmal.
I think the wind level may have dropped from Michael Jackson holding on to two trees, to 80s yuppy listening to a recording on a Memorex cassette.
Judging by the signal strength on the TV, the satellite dish is now pointing towards the Voyager spacecraft, so fingers crossed the Internet holds up for #totp tonight.
End times, folks. The 24 hour big Asda is shutting at 9am this morning.
Michael Jackson holding on to a couple of trees level of windy this morning.
Windy out.
So apparently this storm might become a "sting jet". I'm sure that's fine.
Storm supplies? Well, we still have unopened tubs of both Heroes and Celebrations from Christmas so reckon we should be fine.
There is a real risk of the storm disrupting tomorrow's #TOTP viewing, and that's just not on.
Hoping to get a trampoline in return.
Might get some washing hung out tomorrow.
Well, I'm a vegetarian... Although I am partial to the Greggs vegan ones.
However, either way a sausage roll at 9.45am is a bold statement!
Sorry to report I am in a Costa.
