Affordability is coming very soon, right after the perfect, less expensive health care we've been waiting for the past 10 years.

Ah, when he say 4-5 days he actually said 4-5 weeks...

Ah, then there's no wrongdoing. (The couple in question could claim they'd been maligned by the novel.) If it were published as nonfiction such stories would be deemed "unauthorized biography." Fictionalized versions of real life are not that rare. (They're not my cup of tea, though.)

If the author did give a publisher the right to publish the original work, and then republished the work with minor changes under another name and/or title, they're in breach. The publisher will have many courses of action open to them, none of which the author will find pleasant. 3/3

But it's highly unethical - and inaccurate - to market such a work as "original." IMHO, an author who is caught lying to readers will rue the day. However, there are no consequences if readers don't care. 2/

I'm not sure what you mean by "their books from real life," but the owner of a copyright can do whatever they like with that material unless they've given use of the material by contract to another party (like a publisher). 1/

The depths of their venality knows no limit.

Think I'll watch Deadpool and Beekeeper tonight.

Ah, the white of wisdom creeps in for us all.

One of my kids did that once and the man said, quite seriously, that he was Santa's brother, but he'd be sure to tell Santa that my kid said hi. It was low key magical - my kid walked on air for a while.

I continue to be gobsmacked at 1) how common this formulation is 2) how antisemitic and generally bigoted it is 3) and how for all the talk of anti-semitism this is never cited as an example even though it’s quite literally the original incarnation.

Loving this for Oz as well. His video informercials for his own name and brand on taxpayer dime are maddening. May that he's doing so come to the attention of the orange one, who cannot tolerate this. See Noem, Kristi.

Nothing to see here, just a bush posting stuff hoping the MSM won't see it given other news of the day...

Absolutely fascinating. One takeaway and not a shocker. While management might think their average employee should be replaced or augmented by AI, they have made no effort whatsoever to augment or replace their own jobs with AI.

I get the appeal of dark romance. However - I will DNF and likely DNF the author too if the "dark" is ideation of r8pe as a way to keep women in line. Just saw a sample that included it.

Hard red line. No. No. No.

I will never understand women who don't see their own blood in those waters.

When it gets intense I wiggle my toes. It sounds silly. But a) it doesn't move my mouth. b) I have to focus my brain to do it, taking focus away from my mouth. c) it spreads activity in my nerves over my whole body instead of mostly my head.

For cleanings I take Tylenol right before.

Going really "older TV," Ryan O'Neill and Robert Redford both have early credits in their careers on Perry Mason. O'Neill was a doting boyfriend of a defendant. Redford was the killer, and his breakdown on the stand to confess his awful deeds is kinda epic.

How would anyone know the attacks would happen? They planned it behind black curtains in the middle of Mar-a-lago. So I guess all these millions of dollars were made by sheer luck. Not military intelligence data that was stolen, sold, or traded for a piece of the action.

Remember when DOGE was going to hunt out all the fraud and took all the data so they could hunt out the fraud and I guess that didn't work? So instead just deprive people of aids they need and don't mention firing all the auditors and fraud specialists?

None of this surprises me.

Thrilled to see @victoriastrauss.com of Writer Beware quoted extensively by NYT's Dan Barry piece today about the massive AI-boosted scams aimed at authors. It's a story she broke FOUR months ago. Welcome to the party, NYT.

And an outright admission they don't really plan to pour anything into prosecuting the fraudsters unless they are in a blue state. And even then, the big ringleaders at the top will just buy themselves a pardon.

I keep hearing a Natasha Romanoff voice in my head saying, "So that's your play? Cruelty to those who need help, but don't look at our boss's list of the big time fraudsters he's pardoned?"

Timeline seems relevant. The women win gold. 24 hours later the men win gold. 30 minutes later the men are invited. 12-24 more hours go by before the women are? So if the men hadn't won, the women wouldn't have been invited at all?

Why on earth would the women accept?

Again, the elimination of women's and feminist studies in the name of protecting women and girls from "the trans" was never about that. Never. TERFs were and are tools of the patriarchy that wants to end all forms of accountability for toxic men. Effing tools.

My wife looked at me and said, "What are you going to do?" with a truly panicked look on her face.

As if, you know, without morning coffee I'm unbearable or something.
