For the kids
Since 2019, the @relay.fm community has raised over $4 million for the life-saving work of St. Jude. When I stepped foot on its campus with my son in 2009, I had no idea where life was taking us, but I'm thankful it's here.

Notebook Review: Dominant Industry Ink Archiving Book: Log of Elixir/AtlantisΒ Edition
Initially, I was just going to post and review about the new(er) Dominant Industry Ink Archiving Book: The Log of Elixir ($31). Jesi posted a review awhile ago about the Log of Atlantis ($28) awhile back so Iβ¦
No worries on that front, this pen was bought in person at my local stationery shop, a collaboration between The Gentleman Stationer and Hinze pens.

This is a collaboration from my local shop, The Gentleman Stationer, and Hinze pens. It's my first micarta pen, a material of layers of fabric or fiber in resin that will patina with use. A pocket pen with a dark purple metal section and light purple nib.

Uncapped fountain pen, The Gentleman Stationer x Hinze Taschenstift pocket pen in purple CrazyFiber material called Violet Tendencies with dark gray purple metal section and pale lilac anodized nib, sitting on top of A5 notebook with writing sample of multiple purple inks, with the slightly gray purple Diamine Vivaldi ink featured in the center.
This was a recent pen acquisition to celebrate crossing some big things off the to-do list, and some small but cool things that have happened recently.

Bright inks may not be my wheelhouse, but despite being pleasantly surprised by the character in these TWSBI inks when first swatched I've rarely reached for them since and they deserve better! The bottles are nice too. I used 8 TWSBI inks to paint in the Dominant Industry Ink Archiving book.
I've been testing out using the Notsu vertical To-Do cards and horizontal Week cards (available at my local pen shop, gentlemanstationer.com), and currently these are leading as the potential replacement for my Hobonichi Weeks next year.
I'm enjoying it! I'm glad the show has found ways to adapt the inner monologue and perspective of Murderbot fairly well. It's challenging to navigate the change from being a "ride-along" in the main character's POV in a book to a more external view of that character and their world in a show.
Yep! Watched the first two episodes last night.

The Dominant Industry Ink Archiving Book, A Log of Elixir open to a page with sketches of birds and a scene of a garden with a large gazebo with trees behind and a pool of water in front with water lilies, a large tiered bird bath, several birds including a peacock, and a cat, all painted with 4 Dominant Industry inks. Next to the book are 3 bottles of fountain pen ink and a paint palette that looks like a cluster of bubbles with the remains of drops of ink. Inks used: Bog Sage (Scented, Top Note), a bright light blue Ylang Ylang (Scented, Middle Note), a bright yellow Duftrausch (Scented, Bottom Note), a muted gray pink Allegory (Standard), a dark indigo gray

I painted with three scented inks from Dominant Industry in the Ink Archiving book today.
Bog Sage (Top Note)
Ylang Ylang (Middle Note)
Duftrausch (Bottom Note)
I also used Allegory to have a darker shade to work with.

Colorverse Maryland Blue Crab Ink Review https://www.penaddict.com/blog/2025/5/5/colorverse-maryland-blue-crab-ink-review
A desk top full of ceramic and plastic ink palettes with the dregs of colorful fountain pen inks, several sheets of paper with colorfully painted ink ponies and flowers and an example of a letter with a colorful ink wash background. Other tools on the desk include water brushes and fountain pens.
All my palettes had leftover dried out ink and there are several Yamamoto papers I've only spent a little bit of time with, so I got out a pile of waterbrushes and pencils and pens and ponies and went to town on stream today.
...I've now added to my TGS shopping list, and am off to wash palettes.
