Government consultation on biomass sustainability - Aviation Environment Federation
AEF responded Gov consultation on how biomass should be defined as a potential fuel feedstock in the UK SAF Mandate.
Using plants and crops for fuel feedstocks is inefficient and risks indirect land-use change. Tweaking the SAF Mandate to allow more biomass feedstocks is a bad idea, for many reasons.
We set them all out in our consultation response.

However, big questions remain:
- Should the data disclosure be mandatory (CAA will review the effectiveness of the current voluntary approach in 2027)
- Should there be a single, standardised methodology to calculate the emissions of a flight? 2/3
