There was a sex worker main character, and she was treated by the scripts as more-or-less an Actual Human, so that was pretty cool

But there were always things about firefly that bugged me, the writing for the black characters was ass, and all the dialogue had that Whedony "15 year old girl" sensibility, which sounds weird coming out of Nathan Fillon's mouth

It was okay, it had some decent ideas and the acting was good. The writing wasnt so good and it looked kinda low-budget. A similar show that i though was better - and also got cancelled - was "Dark Matter" on SciFi
