BEF 2 rifle teams, 2 Bren teams with corporals, a couple of top brass and a platoon sergeant. Painted the base edges red SL, orange JL and grey for Bren teams.

You don't need a 3D printer you just need a friend with a 3D printer! Much cheaper and easier first choice I think
Perfect, i wonder how short you could trim the "reeds" for 2mm and still see them?
Maybe wells, outdoor toilets, gardens and allotment, burnt out cars, wagons, dead animals - all good scatter material

Well if you get to tour the area please post lots of photos here and let me know! Would be nice to see more photos of the actual canal which i understand at the time wasnt very canal-like and more of a fitch with a few weeds in it.
It has some driving guides around the area too, with the inter-web you can even do them on Google!
