At least one damaging tornado in SW Michigan a bit earlier this afternoon. Cold Lake Erie should provide southern Ontario with protection against the tornado threat tomorrow, though Ohio looks to be in the bullseye. Could still see thunderstorms overnight and tomorrow in southern Ontario! #ONstorm

Possible supercell, likely elevated, over western Lake Erie near 4 pm. Azimuthal shear has decreased in the last 20 minutes at the storm moves toward Point Pelee National Park. #ONstorm

Wow - this is disgraceful. Major misstep by Carney. You can’t on the one hand promote a rules-based order then turn around and support strikes that violate international law. Carney may back them, but I don’t think he’s actually representing Canadians on this.

I think people miss that the orange menace is using Canadians' love of hockey to poke us in the eye and get us riled up. Think of his recent messaging and actions - glorifying US wins over Canada, claiming that China will take away our hockey, etc. He doesn't care about hockey, only hurting Canada.

Shame Canada couldn't win gold at hockey, but on the bright side, they've probably saved their nation from the imposition of 1000% punative tariffs on goods into the USA

Day 2 of 2 for the #CatIQ Connect meeting in Toronto. Kathryn Bakos from the Intact Centre now speaking on the impacts of residential flooding on mental health. And their studies suggest those impacts are significant.

Now the student delegate presentations (they had to compete for funding to attend and present at CatIQ Connect). This is Yao Li from Western’s Northern Hail Project showing some initial results from his model to predict socioeconomic impacts from a hailstorm. That’s Jim Abraham doing the hosting.

Who would have thought that an EF4-rated tornado documented by the Northern Tornadoes Project in 2023 would inspire the classical piece ‘Didsbury for Viola Quartet’?? And it’s not the only piece inspired by NTP-investigated tornadoes (see below). #ArtMeetsScience
