THE Better Sleep i
COUNCIL
Take
Three-quarters of adults (74%) sleep wearing pajamas, nightshirts, etc. at least a few times a week or more.
• One-third of adults (32%) sleep wearing socks at least a few times a week or more.
• Two in 10 adults (21%) sleep in the nude at least a few times a week or
more.
Many US adults have a daily bed companion, such as a partner or pet.
• Four in 10 adults (43%) sleep with a partner every day or nearly every day.
• Two in 10 adults (22%) sleep with a pets) every day or nearly every day.
My kids have a pajama day at school and no pajamas to wear, so I looked up sleep attire of adults and boy you Americans really love wearing pajamas and nightshirts. Would not have guessed anywhere near 74%

My kid said she was “very merry”, and asked if I knew what that meant. I said it means happy. Her twin then said I was right, it was “merry” like happy, not like “married” and not like his teacher Ms. Mary. I could hardly contain my excitement at being able to analyze the merry/marry/Mary merger

Ah, but there are some more technologically advanced healthcare practices. At these practices, the receptionist will hand you an *iPad* asking you to fill in the exact same details you gave them.

Healthcare user experience in the US:
You will get a text message with a link to fill in your details before your appointment.
Completing this process will have zero bearing on the actual appointment. The receptionist will hand you a form asking you to fill in the exact same details you gave them.

But Kevin, it works on any Ayatollah! Ayatollah Nakhbadeh, Ayatollah Zahedi... even as we speak, Ayatollah Razmara and his cadre of fanatics are consolidating their power!

Cheyenne, the pup that I found along the highway yesterday and her human family stopped by to visit this afternoon and offer a reward for my help, which I of course refused. As you can see by her smile, that debt is paid in full. 🐶 ❤️

I find myself increasingly switching to Threads because BlueSky people seem pathologically unable to talk about anything other than the news
Plus things like this are actual sociological trends worth commenting on, it’s just that it’s the kind of thing the 24-hour news cycle misses

This is back to where the Reddit model really is superior. It’s only 24 comments but I can’t imagine even that much conversation on Bluesky about the official design proposal on the R179

Assuming you’re talking about the Zizians, one of them quoted Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero”, which is on the Footloose soundtrack but which I wouldn’t quite call quoting Footloose

The top 10% drink a lot but please don’t post the usual chart that goes around when this discussion comes up, that chart’s methodology is bunk

The other thing about Reddit is that it’s the best social media site for discussions about a particular city or county. BlueSky and Twitter are pretty hopeless, Threads is surprisingly not bad, and Facebook / NextDoor are too reactionary

Agreed, which is why all the other platforms such as Bluesky or X get all their issues, you fundamentally can’t outrun this probably

I’ve grown to love Reddit’s style of organisation. I can go post to my heart’s content on some obscure subject and assume the average reader has at least the context to understand what I’m talking about

Cover and spine of Donna Tartt’s The Secret History
Finally finished Donna Tartt’s The Secret History. I thought it was superbly written, and all the characters – Richard, Henry, Francis, Charles, Camilla, Julian, and of course Bunny – stuck in my head, so distinctively drawn were they.

It feels like the Labour Party for the last year and a half has mistaken political cynicism for political savvy. Even if you truly have winning at the polls as your sole goal and don’t care about policy, you still have to account for the fact that many voters on the left are true believers; and also

In general, yes, people need to let politicians politician as long as their glonzo hunt doesn't hurt policy. But I don't see a way out of the housing problem without breaking the exact attitude and power structures "stop PE from buying housing" reinforces.

Screenshot of D$FX: Daryl Sng’s FX converter that shows the date and time, plus 1 row saying USD $ 100.00 and 1 row saying EUR € 84.86
Apps I didn’t need to code but did anyway: a basic FX converter so that when I travel I always have a visually clean easy way to do currency conversions. Existing apps I found too messy visually, and I didn’t like always having to type the full “100 USD in EUR” exchange in Google

Exactly. People don’t want to think the problem is the small-time landlords as well as people like their parents who are blocking development. But those make up the vast majority of homeowners.
If PE funds were to blame then cities with the most PE ownership should have worse rents, but they don’t

This is my peeve about the shift in meaning in “performative”. Especially when it’s used by people who also complain that “literally” no longer means “literally”
