I also didn’t like that Dunk took an absurd beating and got stabbed like 10 times. I don’t think he would’ve survived that with modern medicine, much less medieval.

And yeah that is a fair criticism, but since GOT has a certain reputation they also feel the need to live up to their reputation. Having said that, I would've kept the focus on the death at the end of the episode.

That's a good criticism to be honest. The episode went pretty hard in the grimdark direction, with not one but two gruesome and tragic deaths. Imagine if they had put the Red Wedding and Oberyn into one 30 minute episode.
