Those grifts are already well established and aimed at a different audience. This is specifically going after published authors, particularly ones with new books.

Why are all these scammers suddenly targeting published authors? News flash: WE ARE NOT THE ONES WITH THE MONEY.
A new review of Ghosts of Smoke and Flame called it “amazing and fun and heartbreaking and beautiful”!

Watching venerable Baltimore prog warhorses Crack The Sky give a performance that can only be described as “thunderous”.
Look up “should have been huge” and you’ll see their picture.
One of the nice things about this cruise is the numerous chances to say “I have never heard of this artist. Let’s check them out!”
In other news, sitting at a poolside bar listening to Brasilian guitar virtuoso Lari Basilio.
I am sitting by a pool listening to Queensryche and I am wondering how the hell I wound up back in 1989 but haven’t reverted to my 1989 waistline.
Decided to check out Alex Henry Foster and OH MY GOD HIS SONGS ARE MUSICAL CTHULHU MONSTERS AND THIS IS AWESOME.
I just saw Steve Hackett and his band perform “Dance On A Volcano” magnificently and in its entirety, and I don’t how I’m expected to listen to anything else for a while.
All this and prog rock, too!
Yup!
Why yes, I am day drinking at Hemingway’s favorite bar with my buddy Greg. Why do you ask?

I may be on a boat full of prog, but I’m still talking about writing:

Have reached the point in the evening where I am not sure if my disequilibrium comes from the ship’s motion, my attempt to get my money’s worth out of the unlimited drink package, or the prog-metal cover of “Careless Whisper” by Temic I just witnessed.
Or perhaps all three…
I know that I am on a ship, not a boat.
However, I will continue to refer to it as a boat because the word “boat” just sounds funnier.
Nobody ever voted to name anything “Shippy McShipface”.
While I wait to board, something silly to argue over….

Prog elbows up!
My prog cruise t-shirt game is strong
Pretty sure I just watched a Vampire LARP that had broken into Ministry’s old storage locker and climbed up onstage to sing loudly about taking bear sedatives. Which is kind of awesome.
…when you find yourself listening to the guy who used to be Porcupine Tree’s touring guitarist do a solo acoustic rendition of “Crazy”, and no, not the Icehouse one.
The moment when you’re checking in behind a bunch of guys who are very clearly in one of the bands from the cruise you are going on and you have absolutely no idea which band they are from.
Just learned there’s a band out of Athens called The Squatches.
Now I want to see them open for Blur.

Sort of a low-ku….
I am in Miami.
I am wearing a jacket.
This is dumb.
Early morning travel shenanigans are already engaged.
Indeed. I prefer to have the cape-ability.
I am leaving for a prog rock cruise tomorrow.
I have packed a cape.
I may or may not wear the cape.
But I have the cape. And the choice is mine.
Vote.
If it didn't matter, they wouldn't be trying so very hard to take it away from you.
They can only really do it once per project :-)
