I voted YES on the War Powers Resolution because Congress cannot relinquish it's constitutional duty, the Trump administration shouldn't get a blank check for another endless war, and the American people must be heard.

Freedom of speech. Freedom of the press. And even the right to keep and bear arms. These are not partisan gifts; they are Constitutional promises which the Trump administration has trampled. When any administration chills dissent and punishes truth, democracy itself is wounded.
This is what erasure looks like. The Trump administration tore down a memorial honoring people enslaved by George Washington because truth makes them uncomfortable. You donβt defend history by deleting its victims. Thatβs cowardice, not patriotism.
Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson recognized former NBA MVP Derrick Rose in a House floor speech, commemorating his jersey retirement and his legacy as one of Chicagoβs most influential sports figures.
State officials at todayβs @HouseAgDems roundtable were clear: the SNAP cost shift means impossible choices for working people. Trump and Republicans created this affordability crisis
One year of Trump: broken promises and higher prices. He swore costs would drop on Day One; instead his Big, Ugly Bill and tariff chaos has jacked up groceries, rent, health care, and utilities. Inflationβs up, families are squeezed. This has been a Total failure. #Loser
Rep. Fields are joined by Barbara Arnwine of the Transformative Justice Coalition to break down the impact of recent #SCOTUS decisions on voting rights, civil rights & our democracy.

Today, our nation commemorates the 97th birthday of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
For me, Dr. King is not just a giant of history; he is a living moral compass whose words and witness shaped my family, my community, and my own calling to public service.
Trump talks a big game while families in IL-01 feel the squeeze. Prices are up, health care is still broken, and corruption is running wild in Washington. Iβm fighting to lower costs, protect your care, and clean up Trumpβs mess so this economy finally works for working people.
I voted to demand the Trump administration stop protecting the powerful and release the complete Epstein Files. Our national conscience demands this truth. Think of the victims whose lives were shattered; they deserve to finally find some measure of peace and justice.
My Gen-Z interns have informed me that Trump is currently #GLAZING the brutal dictator Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia who was responsible for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi
Trump and the GOP promised to lower costs; instead they hiked them sky-high! Reckless tariffs, higher health care bills, pricier groceries and utilities. They lied, and working families are paying the price. Democrats are laser-focused on lowering costs; because Americans deserve better.
Congressman Jonathan L. Jacksonβs Statement on the Republican Spending Bill That Fails to Address Americaβs Health Care Crisis
On Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women in #IL01 and across the nation who have served our country with courage and dedication. Your sacrifice protects our freedoms, and we remain committed to serving you as faithfully as you have served us.
Happy Veterans Day!

@HouseDemocrats know that the American people deserve better. That is why we are ready, willing and able to quickly reach a bipartisan agreement that reopens the government, ensures #SNAP benefits are paid, and lowers health care costs. #MakeAmericaHungryAgain

My office captured several stills from todayβs
@dhsgov.govmirrors.com video supporting Gregory Bovino. The imagery is deeply troubling; it evokes another era when masked government agents rounded up so-called βundesirables" (Iβm sure thatβs just a coincidence).
@RepFields and I founded the Congressional #DEI Caucus to push back against Trumpβs attacks on Black students. The data is clear: DEI bans have shut the doors of opportunity; locking THOUSANDS of Black students out of Americaβs top institutions. #DiversityEquityInclusion
MAGAs shut down the government to make families choose between #Food and #Healthcare. End the shutdown and 7.3M lose care. Keep it going and 42M lose #SNAP benefits. Either way, @Trump stays well fed. #MakeAmericaHungryAgain #MAHA

Thank you to everyone who joined last weekβs telephone town hall β I appreciated hearing your thoughts and questions about the government shutdown and its impact on our communities.
@POTUS found $40B to bailout #Argentinaβs president, but canβt find $5B to keep food on American tables. Next week, #SNAP cuts will hit 1 in 8 Americans; not because weβre broke, but because this administration is choosing not to use available contingency funds. #AmericaFirst?
Yesterday I met with HealthCare Equity Advisory Council and banded together in a discovery meeting to discuss how to best support our hospitals, physicians and the broader healthcare community during the ongoing shutdown.
