The point is not to limit the resellers profits. The point is to give people with a smaller budget a chance to attend a show.
So regulations to prevent reselling at a higher price from happening are much more defensible. Although it’s hard to get that right.
Probably not. I see this more as a reason why artists would want to limit their ticket prices.
However, if a lot of non-fans would be able to obtain tickets and resell them at a higher price, these benefits disappear quickly. With online sales this is hard to prevent.
- Lineups and stuff being sold out can be a great signalling & marketing tool - it creates attention and triggers FOMO.
- Standing in line with fellow fans of an artist adds rather than subtracts to the experience.
