I bought myself a very simple Dobsonian telescope a few years ago and now have nice dark skies to use it on. Any tips for learning where things are in the night sky (apart from observing and making notes)?

Music fans are the best.
First clear night for ages. Went out with binoculars for a bit of star gazing. Moon was very bright but still managed good views of Jupiter, Orion and even the Pliedes. Not managed to see those without a telescope before. Need to get telescope put back together ready for a dark night.

We are lucky to have 6 pubs, three wine bars and two beer bars within walking distance. 30 mins there, 35 back (we live at the top of a steep hill π).
