β€œAttendees raised concerns about… addressing gaps in bike routes near District 65 schools, others voicing concerns about… biking along Central Street after football games.

β€˜Kids shouldn’t have to ride in traffic,’ said Kelly Mack, who runs Mack’s Bike & Goods with her husband, Sam.”

Resident input is being accepted on a traffic management plan for the new Ryan Field. This is an opportunity to support improvements such as: a free bicycle valet service, Divvy dock, protected bike lanes on Central and Lincoln Streets, and CTA station elevators.

City of Evanston Bike Plan Update Community Remarks enables citizens to post their ideas to a map

Submit feedback via this map for Evanston’s 2026 Bike Plan Update. Drop pins where walking/biking feels unsafe and be specific in supporting corridors for protected lanes or greenways. Even if others have made your suggestions, add them anyway so your voice is heard!

β€œOlin Wilson-Thomas, a junior in high school, said he bikes to school everyday… and that he frequently sees cars parked illegally.

β€˜In the past couple of months biking to school I kept tally, 57 cars were parked in that bike lane… we need some concrete protection.’”

Illegal bike lane obstructions and the significant delays to complete streets projects jeopardize our public safety and climate goals. Evanstonians are sending a clear message: we need high quality, concrete protected bike infrastructure for our busiest roads, and it needs to be a priority!
