My theory is that at as physical games declined, their area became even more niche and they realised that their manufacturing connections gave them a unique ability to handle all this stuff at once-

For what it’s worth, I don’t hate LRG or anything and if their new leadership turns it around then awesome, but I’ve been following them for a long time and there does just seem to be a fundamental problem with how they approach projects

Things LRG have issued public apologies for and promised to do better on:

2026: SXSG statue defects
2025: NES cartridges that break NES systems
2024: selling 3DO games on CD-R
2023: shipping times in general

The packaging is divided into three sections - two plastic inserts and a cardboard box. I assumed the cardboard box was just for display reasons, but it turns out that it’s the “case” and you’re meant to take one of the inserts and store it in the box

Oh, I get it. You’re supposed to take the packaging insert and put it in the backing box

I’m also very happy to report that if you turn it on without a cartridge inserted, it doesn’t play any music but it still chimes

The thing is cute as hell but I wish it had come with some kind of case, there’s just no practical way to store the game cards other than keeping the gigantic box

LRP it’s genuinely incredible how the bluesky staff were personable and jokey in the early days, and as the site’s grown bigger they’ve just slipped further and further into becoming weird parodies of Silicon Valley douchebags

however mad you think bluesky are that their website is full of furries, youre underestimating lmao
