I've been slowly working my way through this the last year or so. It's a history of the GOP in the wilderness during the Obama years, which gave rise to the Tea Party and MAGA. So much of what is happening in the Democratic Party right now reminds me of that era. Worth a read.
Attempts to break that down over the past 100 years to make it faster were a bad idea and we are seeing that now, which is why we need Congress to find its way back from a lap dog for Presidents and the judiciary to remain independent.
We have three branches of government with checks and balances so that one single individual with bad ideas can't impose them on the entire country. A republican form of democracy is slow and frustrating on purpose.
