Why was Neil Sedaka recording in Stockport? Because his backing band in 1973 was Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme - they started playing for Sedaka just before they started recording their own music under the name 10cc. Gouldman and Stewart were part owners of the studio.
The version of Love Will Keep Us Together in this case is the original one by Neil Sedaka, recorded in 1973. Captain and Tenille's US #1 was recorded in 1975. Love Will Tear Us Apart was recorded by Joy Division in March 1980.
Both songs were recorded at the Strawberry Studios in Stockport.
Learned a great piece of music trivia today: Love Will Keep Us Together and Love Will Tear Us Apart were recorded in the same room.
