I was hoping for 50s. Not 70s. I love 70s, but that's not supposed to be until May

Excuse me I'm just going to remove my sweatpants in the bathroom. I have shorts on underneath
Why does the forecast say 70 on Tuesday in Boston??? It's... March. I don't even know anymore. I'll just start my layering with shorts and a tank top everyday
I've had a fair number of conversations about "fair use" without anyone talking about straight up plagiarizing and not just stolen/pirated training material
Somehow missed this article the first time around.
"Stanford and Yale researchers found compelling evidence that AI models are actually copying all that data, not โlearningโ from it. ... Claude outputted โentire books near-verbatimโ with an accuracy rate of 95.8%."

Graphic that reads "Outstanding natural science picture books!" and shows the cover of This Wolf Was Different by Katie Slivensky and Hannah Salyer, featuring a close up of a wolf with a human reflected in her eyes, and the caption above that reads "The New York Public Library Best Books of 2024" and also the cover of I, Rock: A Geology Tale by Katie Slivensky and Steph Stilwell, which shows a cartoon rock with googly eyes sitting on a cross section of the ground, with the caption above that reads, "SLJ Best Book of 2025".
A little promo for the weekend. โค๏ธ
Help support my endeavors to teach kids science by buying one of my books from your local bookstore or borrowing from your library! They're illustrated by the talented Hannah Salyer (This Wolf) and Steph Stilwell (I, Rock), published by Beach Lane Books. #Kidlit
I tried reducing my dog's polygon count to improve loading times but I accidentally rendered him as an infinitesimal one-dimensional point in spacetime and now I can't remember where I left him
Powerful.
Interesting! Will check it out

Related: learning about other people, cultures, languages, and religions is fascinating, and I feel sorry for people who think that they know the only one right way to live

I would *love* to see more international classical music and dance forms that aren't one off performances that are only on the weekends when you can't go or you only find out about afterwards. Also--with a little teaching about what to look for and how to enjoy it
My main issue with ballet and opera is the culture around them-- it is aimed at upper class white people, and outsiders are not welcomed, and other forms of classical dance (like the one I am learning bharatanatyam) are not explored and celebrated in the United States.
Tbh I thought I didn't like ballet because of the nutcracker and swan lake (Sorry! The music is better than the stories in both of those!) but I enjoyed it when I watched ones with stories I actually liked! I haven't seen enough opera to have any opinion at all. I admire the singing I have heard.
I, for one, think Timothee Chalamet is quite brave for saying what he said about ballet as every ballerina in the world could kill him using only their legs.
it feels like a small thing in context of all of the other things but it is a piece of the larger authoritarian project that there are fewer places to publish essays now and the carefully edited essay as a public form for thinking and responding and criticizing and analyzing is in trouble, i think
(also I probably wouldn't *actually* want this because the whole thing would turn problematic really fast)
I definitely would not want this with our current technology. It would probably be an AI approximation of me inside a Boston dynamics robot dog๐๐๐๐๐

This is probably an unpopular opinion but they should be working on new synthetic bodies to download ourselves into because I'm getting really annoyed with this model I got. Seems to be glitchy.

The blue dragon with the silver-grey underbelly almost done.
Some embroidery before I turn.
A digital drawing of a bunny character in a red coat standing among lot and lots of flowers and leaves. Some of the flowers are bigger than the bunny.
Bunny!!
