Was amazing to have all corners of the tech scene in Manchester coming together and hope to run more events like this in the future.
We had more than 30 people from all different backgrounds, programming languages and skill levels come to learn about open source tech and either dive into their first issue, build on their existing skills or support beginners with their veteran knowledge!

Meme with Thanos and the infinity gauntlet show 4 stones as the meetup groups and the 5th one being "you"
Last night we put the pitchforks down and combined the powers of PyDataMCR, Manchester Gophers, Queer in Tech & Rust Manchester to come together this Hacktoberfest and dive into the world of open source
development.
Massive thanks to Fatsoma for sponsoring this event from venue to food!
As always if you want to submit a talk, sponsor or attend go over to manchestergophers.com!

Big thanks to @www.jvt.me for running the "What story does your dependency tree tell you about your org?"
Great tooling on how to manage dependencies and surface up actionable data using dmd!
You can catch this workshop at GopherconUK if you are attending!
Details on how to participate in the workshop in the meetup description and as always RSVP!

The next Manchester Go meetup is on the 30th of July at Fatsoma! This one though is a workshop so bring your laptop and follow along with @www.jvt.me on "What story does your dependency tree tell you about your org?".
See you there and patch your vulnerabilities 👀

We couldn't make our resident Gopher gift maker make his own speaker gift! So his partner sewed him a Gopher plushie!
Isn't it adorable?!
Thank you Latifah!
Check the templ playground using WASM at play.templ.guide
We are taking a summer break for July, see you back in August!
Thanks to Nandos for hosting the June meetup and of course our very own @lotus-engineer.com for the talk!
Nandos chicken was had and discussions on starting small and keep iterating while building a project and error handling proposals being paused as well as new faces to get to know!
Sorry folks, due to some logistical issues we are unable run the event tomorrow!
But don't fret my gopher friends, we will continue next month with Ryan's aWASMe (sorry) talk next month. So keep your eyes in ears out for details on that!
The May Go meetup is hosted by Nandos!
Our very own, the toy-maker gopher himself, @lotus-engineer.com with a talk titled "Go-Build-Play: Code Gen in the browser with Go and WASM"

Big thanks to Sam Burns for giving a talk on weak pointers on our April Go meetup!
We had a great time and good conversations afterwards around use cases for weak pointers.
Stay tuned for the next meetup in May!
For more info check our website in our bio.
The April meetup is a Go!
Our speaker Sam Burns will give a talk "The Strengths of the `weak` Package".
Stop what you're doing, even if you're collecting the garbage, defer that to later! Don't panic; get funcy and sign up!
We promise it won't be a weak one!

Sorry @sargath.bsky.social, unfortunately we don't live stream the meet up at the moment, it's an in-person event only.
Manchester, I will be visiting @manchestergophers.com next week. Come and chat about Go. #golang

For those unable to get a space, unfortunately due to venue security we can't host over capacity, so please don't turn up as we will have to turn those without RSVPs away!
The February Go meetup is in high demand! We've added 10 extra spaces and they're already being filled!
For those who have RSVPed please make sure to indicate if you are no longer planning on coming, to make room for those who can make it.

We are taking a break for December and January, so enjoy your holidays and see you back in February!
Had some interesting discussions in the pub such as Macs might be the cheapest way to self-host your LLMs, the world of databases has a lot happening, how many r's are in a strawberry and whether we should change the meetup name to ManGo!
Special thanks to Adrian Hesketh for a very interesting talk "Generative AI for Gophers" and how Go made it easy to build an LLM powered app (Almost all the libraries and tools used were written in Go)!
Thank you to everyone who attended the November Go meetup! It was awesome to meet new people interested or experienced in Go.
Thank you to our sponsors www.roku.com for hosting us and www.mirrorweb.com for the pizza and drinks!
