I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

It's absolutely horrific and surreal what's happening in Chicago. I attended this rally and found solace in the turnout and the words of elected officials and community members. ICE needs to get the hell out of our communities. I appreciate the coverage from Unraveled Press & other local reporters.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

I think in memory of Jill, we should make this song our national anthem.

So sad to read that Jill Sobule passed away in a house fire. Saw her perform with Erin McKeown in Chicago many years ago. She was talented & hilarious. I immediately thought of this song. I hope wherever Jill is, she was right and they're wrong. #musicsky #jillsobule

I have a feeling Kat will offer plenty of opportunities for constituents to connect with her. She said it herself that she wants this to be a competitive race so she can prove she's the strongest candidate. It's not like people need to decide today.

Also note many Democratic reps were once Republicans. Elizabeth Warren, for example.

Also I appreciate people who are open to changing their minds from what they thought as teenagers. Kat has stated repeatedly that by the time she could vote she'd changed her views and voted Democrat.

Jan Schakowsky, the incumbent in my race, will reportedly not seek re-election. So it seems like a good time to reintroduce myself —

Dick Durbin has devoted his career to fighting for the people, from healthcare to justice reform to DACA and so much more.

Thank you for your service, Senator. And thank you for passing the torch. I hope more elected officials learn from your example.

I love that @aoc.bsky.social is in on the #WIPWednesday trend. As for me, I'm chugging along on miles of ribbing on the DRK Everyday Cardi using Mountain Meadow Tweed Sport, which I am loving. 🧶

I went to the protest in Chicago last Saturday and a couple people near me were griping about the pro Palestine speakers. That says to me we need more young people and more leftists to show up who loudly & proudly support a #FreePalestine #MayDay #50501

The best thing about the insufferable rich ladies go to space trip is that it reminded me of this great song.

I was a bit turned off by how little I saw about Palestine at the first big protest and in communications from 50501 but am glad to see this video. I'll be there on 4/19 and hope more leftist groups participate.

ELECTION RESULT: A team of city council members in Rolla, Missouri, have been pushing anti-LGTB policies, including a ban on drag shows and book censorship.

Voters just ousted all three of these city councilors who were running for reelection, backing candidates backed by a local LGBT group.

Next up- April 19th. Protests are fun- show up and bring your friends. For those who say- what good does this do- I get it. But demonstrations are just one part of a movement. This work leads to more targeted actions & protests. Join the fun & let's stop the madness together. #50501

West Coast numbers are coming in, and estimates have now surpassed 5 million. People are still pouring into the streets—nearly 2% of the American population is rising up. America, we are so proud of you. You did it.

It is EXTREMELY heartening to see so any people out at the Hands Off protests. It's a much higher turnout than I expected and that's a very, very good sign.

BUT.

Let us *please* learn the lessons of the past and remember we have to KEEP ORGANIZING after the marches.

The biggest thing we need to do is let people know that the protests are FUN. Yelling fuck the man is fun. You will meet fun people.

We also need to make them more fun. Bring grills like the French. Bring instruments like it’s Mardi Gras. Give people a reason to spend their weekend in the streets.

Man, the big huge protests in places like Boston, DC, NY, Chicago, and Minneapolis are awe-inspiring.

But my heart is gonna explode looking at these crowds of people out in tiny Maine towns and super red Alabama towns. Places where 15% of the population is on the street corner with more coming!
