also webp is a 15 year old format so if it's not working correctly on this site or your browser, that is a valid complaint. however, seems to work for me on macOS and cachyOS across safari, firefox, chromium browsers, et al 🤔
and if you're using a modern browser and not updating recently, idk what to tell you, I would recommend you update your shit if you're connecting it to the internet
there's no meaningful extra tracking risk in webp vs JPG/PNG, despite extra complexity in VP8X. and for the bsky CDN specifically they still give you the option of requesting jpeg so it seems like a non issue if you use a browser release that was built in the last ~5 years

fun facts: the CDN still provides jpeg/png fallbacks and similarly the <picture> element is often used to provide fallbacks to JPG/PNG formats in case you want to use windows 2000 on the modern web for some reason

Linux gaming update now that I've been on CachyOS for a few weeks:
I don't miss Windows at all (even though I did reserve a ~300gb partition, haven't bothered to set it up at all)
Many games actually run better under Linux for me, too!
Had one issue and btrfs snapshots bailed me out.
