I would addition for plays with "In Love" off that album, because it's REALLY hard not to say it in Shatner-ese and ironing Bill out of the words forces you to live in them

I think that's a big part. When you know both versions but the cover totally supercedes the original. Like the William Shatner "Common People" (my most cancelable take)

I find the Truth post somewhat vague! It says Noem is fired, and that Markwayne Mullin will take over on 3/31. Always possible there's just an acting until then. So, out of an abundance of caution, I just told the judge "I have no idea, please accept this"

Jake Lang had his Omnibus Hearing yesterday. Trial the week of July 27 (calendar call, no set date/time). In addition, the prosecution's motion was granted barring Lang himself from receiving or being shown evidence relating to a specific witness. Presumably to protect the witness from harassment

It's more like, when there's a random political event on a Tuesday night or something that's going to go late into the evening on a weekend, are any of our babysitters available and can we afford to spend $100 to $200 to pay them in addition to whatever we spend while we're out.

In America all this differs state by state. A lot of it is tied up in what questions were asked hundreds of years ago, because states don't like to stop collecting data that's run in a data set for centuries.

Well, you can't control for that lol. But it does come with some basic advantages like "having any sort of clue how the legal industry works", which can help people make better choices

05.03.2026 15:29 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

So, yeah, not as many people who actually had to show up somewhere for years on end and put in the time. My people mostly wound up being folks who'd been in the service industry or landed on law because their brains were broken and this was the only way they could see to exist (both are me)

Our avg age was like 25 or 26. Most common to see someone get out and work a law prep job for a bit. Maybe a firm, but also policy organizations, government agencies, politicians, etc. Or classic post-college semi-work like job programs. A cohort of people who got masters then went to law school

Really replying upstream as well, but over >70% of my classmates had a lawyer within one familial arm's length (immediate family, grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc.). Not a perfect metric, but a pretty good indication of their socioeconomic status.

BUT the one thing I will always be grateful for is that many of my younger classmates invited me to their weddings so I got to have a second wave of "everyone I know is getting married" after our age-equivalent friend groups burned through their first marriages

I don't envy people learning about the working world for the first time with grad school debt hanging over their heads, but I also don't have much sympathy when their complaints about the legal profession are really just complaints about society and capitalism. Life's a ditch and you gotta dig it

Mamdani's democratic socialist bonafides are well established. And Tallarico's platform includes a wealth tax, higher corporate tax rates, Medicare for All, legalizing marijuana, $15 min wage, paid family leave, and more. There are some Texas twists to his positions, but it's not just "smiles a lot"

And it's hard for me to imagine a landlord of single-family homes going bankrupt post-COVID. Just sell the homes! Prices went nuts after 2020. Plenty of room to get out of the game and at least cover costs

05.03.2026 14:08 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Anecdotes make for bad data. Landlords aren't people: they're businesses. Sometimes business are run poorly, and sometimes they run into market conditions they really couldn't prepare for. But statistically, what you say happened to your friends isn't reflective of the industry
