I have a favorite, very niche genre of film besides horror, and that is middle-aged men losing their wives and being sad about it in isolated, dangerous environments. Ex.The Grey, The Vanishing, Train Dreams. I love men being pathetic wet heaps about their dead wives.

They’re delightful. I used to collect the empty cases when I was a little girl and make necklaces from them. There are even people who give them precious gemstones and gold flakes to construct their houses from. Such fun critters. I hope you get to see some one day!

A caddisfly larva munching on some pond sludge. They make little houses out of bits of plant material, tiny pebbles, twigs and other debris. They’re super important for healthy aquatic ecosystems and are indicators of good water quality! Always a treat to see.
