Addendum: Scream partnering with a predatory betting app to promote the film as the final act of shooting themselves in the foot was a curveball I could not have possibly predicted, and also somehow the perfect metaphor for how emotionless and empty the film makes me feel

A screencap from my TV of Mercy, the creepy kid from The Witch (2015) in her bonnet and lumpy green fronted dress. She’s standing left of centre in a weed and brush covered bog. Everything is withered and dead, yet somehow damp. She’s digging a long stick into the ground with her fist and yelling (with subtitles), β€œBlack Phillip saith I can do what I like.”

4. You gotta communicate. Life throws hands all the time. If you’re about to fuck up a deadline for reasons out of your control then you need to say something the to person waiting on the piece. Ghosting them looks way worse than having to explain shit went down and stopped you from being great.

Tim Burton, Representation, and the Problem With Nostalgia Tim Burton was not always my nemesis. In the not-too-distant past, I was a child who just wanted to watch creepy things. I rewatched Beetlejuice countless times and thought he was a lot more involved ...
