A reminder that Iron Circus is gonna get WALLOPED with Baker & Taylor bankruptcy backdraft for the next several months, turning our usual distro payout into bills.
If you'd like to help a small business making weird-ass comics weather the storm, a 💥30% OFF💥 sale is on now!

"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist
The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."
Kind of fucking sucks that my reflexive reaction to any “animal doing a cute thing” video now is “is this AI?“
Have a safe, fun trip! And post photos if you can/have time
Makes me despair and mourn. I grew up watching PBS in AETN.
A tubby orange tabby is reclining atop a wooden dresser that has a red, crocheted blanket folded on it. The cat has raised her head up to look at the viewer. Her facial expression seems to indicate that she is not impressed.
Have a cat in the meantime. #cattax
And I'm back, sans VPN. What all did I miss?

There's also this charity, the Bail Project, that pays the bail of individuals who cannot afford their own freedom. This includes those in poverty and protesters exercising their first amendment rights.
Bail can be refunded to the payer, so that's a long way to stretch a $.

Seems like a good day to promote this charity that buys and forgives medical debt in the United States.

Someday I'll finally make some merch to donate proceeds from dangit
A linoblock print on hosho rice paper. The print features a sleeping cat in a basket. The print is titled "Nap Zone".
While I'm visiting my dad in another state, I have access to bluesky again. So, have more art. This is one of the new prints I made this year.
Was experimenting with line and pattern on this one.
Mississippi's new social media age-verification law has now forced BlueSky to block Mississippi IP addresses.
Our Mississippi Free Press team is now urgently having to grapple with what that means for our audience—and for press freedom.
My new editorial:
I want a "Generative AI is theft" T-shirt.

Interesting would be the best way to put it. I would have to try a few more blocks to get a real feel for it and have an opinion.
2 sheets of white hosho rice paper lay on a desktop with one overlapping artistically. Both have a print of a black circle depicting a greenman. The print was made using a relief printing method used for lino block prints. The sheets of paper are 6" x 9".
The block that was carved and used for the greenman print is displayed on a black cutting mat with a grid pattern. The block is a clear circle, approximately 4 to 5" in diameter. To help it show better in the photo, a piece of white paper has been placed under the block but only halfway so some of the black cutting mat is seen through it.
Another new print I made this month. Experimenting by carving onto a clear lino that were pre-cut into circles. Was inspired to try a greenman as a roundel.
POTS person here: If you feel woozy, dizzy, or tingly even with drinking water, your electrolytes are probably off.
High sodium can fix it for short term. Think Pickle Juice, V8, or even just one of those tiny salt packets. Then work on other electrolytes like Potassium and Magnesium.
XY⬇️⬆️, comrade!
A small block print is shown with the block it was made from nearby. It was printed on a sheet of notebook paper with graph lines The block is a 3" x 4" speedy carve from speedball. The block and the print depict a still life of a snake plant, a stack of hardcover books, and a mailing tube, with Venetian blinds in the background.
Here is another new print. This one is submitted for my standards review.
A linoleum block in the process of being carved. The block is resting on a cutting matte to help keep it from moving much while it is being carved. Two carving tools are nearby. The block depicts a sad faced bear holding a worn banner that reads, "bearly gettin' by". The type is mirrored on the block so it will read in the proper orientation once printed.
A linoleum block ready to begin carving. The design was rubbed/transfered pencil from a sheet of tracing paper, then marker to finalize the design. The block depicts a sad faced bear holding a worn banner that reads, "bearly gettin' by". The type is mirrored on the block so it will read in the proper orientation once printed.
Concept sketch for the print and edits made to it on a sheet of tracing paper. The original sketch is on lined notebook paper. A mechanical pencil rests on one of the pages. The sketch depicts a sad faced bear holding a worn banner that reads, "nearly here". The tracing paper edited version has a longer torso and the branches in the background have changed to a fern like leaves. The banner now reads, "bearly gettin' by".
Recovering from getting my submission turned in for guild standards review for the Craftsmen's Guild of MS (have to do this every 3 years until I've been a member for 10 years, then can apply to be a fellow.) Here's a new block in progress. Still some carving to go before I can print.
I'm going to be on Philo again! come watch @artglych.bsky.social & I draw a comic live based on audience chat suggestions!
A screenshot from last night's Livestream for "PHILO". There are 3 inset shots of the hosts and me as we interact and 2 inset shots from clip studio paint as @artglych and myself draw. In twitch, there would be a live chat where viewers interacted with us and suggested the outcomes for each panel of the story.
I had so much fun on Philo last night! Thanks again to @artglych.bsky.social and Robin for having me! If you weren't able to join us live, you can view on YouTube or Twitch:

Dear all foreign friends outside the United States,
Our country is big. Like really big. Like so much bigger than you ken. Our states are bigger than many countries, and there's 50 of them.
So when you wonder why we are not all marching on DC
I live 2,500 miles (4000 km) from the White House
We'll be drawing and cussing so it's NSFW but very fun!

The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 56, “Resurrecting Venus” by Galen Dara: In the background, two planets overlap. A large red one is eclipsed by a blue one, the surface is decorated with waves. At the forefront, a woman's face is split in three pieces that are slowly coming together. Spread throughout the motif of sea waves are present in shades of light blue, dark blue, and purple. The outline of koi are spread throughout too, accompanying the woman. The quote reads: “He held his cap clenched in one fist. ‘There’s a snail coming through the forest.’ Margery’s blood went cold as if a shadow had passed over the cottage. ‘How big?’”
