Got a device from eBay that was "New Open Box" with a battery from 2022 and it was immediately throwing charging errors, what a surprise. Trickling a couple of mA in to raise the voltage seems to have gotten it to start a real charge at least. Miiight keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case...

I've been using it for like 8 years now (that seems very long), and yeah, it's great. Does everything I need it to and stays out of the way.

All of my home Zebra printers (don't ask me how many) are now connected to a Weblink service I wrote so I don't have to worry about things like IP addresses, I can just send data to a HTTP service and it figures the rest out.

I'm so glad Traefik can route based on SNI and pass the TLS through to a service that needs to manage its own certificates instead of having to do things on non-standard ports.

somehow the majority of my VRChat friendgroup seems to coordinate things over IRC now which is a really funny technology difference

It seems like every day I learn that there's a new incredibly cursed way to talk to Zebra printers. Apparently you can get them to generate CSRs using a multipart form structure, but of course you have to start by telling it you're making a JSON request??

working with an SDK that says "confidential and proprietary" at the top of every file but there's like a million copies of it on github already, so I guess they don't care lol

apple built a wonderful "DataScannerViewController" view to scan data using the camera, but there's no way to get it to use a front facing camera, so I can't use it at all, cool

Zebra in this case is a company that makes things like barcode scanners and label printers, I enjoy playing with that kind of stuff far too much haha

I'm not even sure if I can fully factory reset the thing I just bought because store-specific firmware, but I guess we're going to find out!

why am I like this

I think folks are currently working on private data, so I expect it to be around eventually...

A second fediverse account isn't a bad idea, just unfortunate a lot of folks I care about aren't regularly over there.

I tried that once but it's a little harder, knowing other folks could see it (even if they don't) helps too

I guess my private twitter account still exists but I haven't really used twitter since tweetbot stopped working and I don't think I could go back lol
