Well that is unquestionably true. There was some loose talk of Leave it to Beaver, though. What most annoys me is that, after four decades of systematically dismantling that social contract, the conservatives parties have the gall to complain about its disappearance.
Quite a few people mocked this post as absurd and false nostalgia, but I grew up in a standard lower middle class suburb in the sixties and it was a bit unusual that my mother worked. There really was a world where good unionized jobs gave you a house, a car, and you could send your kids to college.
