A leaked Florida college group chat revealed TPUSA's chapter president — and other young Republican activist leaders — giddily using antisemitic, racist and fascist rhetoric.
The heirs to Charlie Kirk’s legacy keep getting outed as bigots. And the right mostly just shrugs.

An hour of vibecoding in Xcode has convinced me apps may be dead: https://json.blog/2026/03/01/an-hour-o
I am a sucker for pricey upgrades: https://json.blog/2026/03/01/i-am-a-sucker
From the enterprise side, below the cut line are often things that impact revenue in subtle ways. I’ve seen, in my opinion, meaningful improvement by getting a lot of interface and functional consistency across huge sprawling enterprise apps where everything is only 90% the same.
I added a new Release Notes page with all the updates about blog features that are reader-visible, for those interested in all the ways you can use this site. We'll see if I keep this up-- I think it depends on whether anyone seems interested.
I feel like at this point everyone knows what I think.
I feel like dress codes have become increasingly impossible to understand.
Sometimes the greatest gift is to not be an enthusiast.
You know, with an endangerment finding at the EPA, it’s possible to say that due to the clear potential damage generated by increased energy use, we’ll have standards for energy sources and the costs and methods to provide them to data centers…
“I made them pledge.”
“Sir, this is the government not a Wendy’s. You can legislate and regulate!”
Or maybe, “This isn’t ‘Nam there are rules! (And you write them!)”
We gotta workshop this one.
Because nerds work on these things (among other reasons), the pathway that works best with most LLMs all leads to markdown and/or json. Docx mostly works fine as it just does XML operations, but because it’s more complex to query and there’s more markup, it costs more tokens.
There are ways to avoid this pretty solidly— but it’s why operators still have to understand what they’re doing (in this case, knowing how to have high quality OCR produce markdown is a substantially better pathway than feeding PDFs to LLMs, and substantially less expensive)
There seems to be a new trend of cancelled Kennedy Center performers or DC art events ending up in Baltimore, and I love this for me (us).
When people say “race is a social construction” it can often seem abstract. The use of “Judeo-Christian” as a seemingly natural ethno-religious category—despite centuries of anti-Jewish expulsions, pogroms and mass killing—is a good example of a political project constructing identity to gain power.
John Arnold’s whole schtick seems to be choosing bizarre ways to claim he’s some “third way” believer but it’s really just idiosyncratic bad ideas he calculates will make him look serious to both sides.

Zed is fast becoming my favorite text editor on Mac.
Still a lot to do, and still some pieces not working. But, I did get to add one new feature today that is visible to other folks-- a new Archive Page now with updated year filters. I also updated the About Page.
A painting shows two figures with gray-toned skin holding hands in a golden field. The figure on the left wears a white t-shirt and denim skirt, facing away. The figure on the right wears a pink, orange, yellow, and green tiered dress with a white headband and looks over her shoulder at the viewer. A rocket with a long smoke trail ascends into the light blue sky in the background.
My favorte of what we saw today at the BMA, Planes, Rockets, and the Spaces in Between by Amy Sherald.
And we met in an IRC chat.
There seem to be three kinds of people:
Those who talk about what they love.
Those that talk about why you should hate what you love.
And worst of all, those who want you to believe it’s immoral to love the things you love.
My plan for dramatic democratic reform includes:
- SCOTUS expansion
- DC statehood
- PR settlement of status
- Codify DOJ independence
- Constitutional amendment(s) to reverse SCOTUS decisions, abolish Electoral College, restrict presidential pardon power
I’ve suddenly made it significantly further building my own CMS for my site than I thought I would. It’s been quite the project so far.
It’s going to be 40 degrees in Baltimore tomorrow and I want to wear a t-shirt and shorts in celebration.
One of the core concerns about age identification has gone predictably from theory to reality.
I need people to stop talking about chips and salsa and guac in relation to Bad Bunny. Arroz con pollo and platanos are right there.
I wonder if ISBNDB is any good. Kind of a bummer they lack a free tier or something closer to hobbyest levels.

You’re about to have a good music week.
