This is for all pitchers who had at least 50% GS/G.
Starting pitchers by IP bucket, projections vs actual playing time.
There's definitely some over projection in the 125-175 range, but I don't think it's that crazy.
I'm not saying there isn't a better way, but since this is a closed system, it's going to matter less since it's internally consistent. Like, if I over project wOBA in a projection system by 20% for everyone and then run projected standings off that system, it's not going to change much.
And it will just compress things. Team depth is hard to simulate, but we tried this very thing: blogs.fangraphs.com/an-even-newe...
Projected number of players in each plate appearances bucket vs actual plate appearances.
This was the actual breakdown last year of projected PA vs actual PA buckets. When you're doing this, you're going to overshoot some bucket, I would think, because you can't predict injuries. You can just give everyone a bit less playing time, but the end result is going to look similar.
The actual percentages are listed here: www.fangraphs.com/teams/blue-j... for instance. Someone could come up with their own method of turning these into PA / IP if they wanted and then prorate whatever projection system they choose.
They're the same. We just take the percentages and turn them into plate appearances. Also, each projection system doesn't use the same playing time projections. Any of the "Depth Chart" projections use our projections, along with OOPSY, but Steamer, ATC, ZiPS, and THE BAT/X use different ones.
The playing time projections are done specifically with the projected standings in mind, even if there is over projection on the back end. They're done via playing time percentages, not plate appearances so we're sure not to over projecting any team or position.
Please send a note to support@fangraphs.com with the link where things aren't working and I'll take a look. The standard settings seem to be working, so it might be something very specific to your league.

There isn't a way on the player pages yet. You would have to do something like this on the leaderboards: www.fangraphs.com/leaders/majo...

Statcast xwOBA doesn't exist prior to 2015, so it's only for his 2016 playoff appearance.

Thatβs a 403 forbidden error. We have had serious problems with bots in the past couple months and when itβs impacting site usability weβve had to block all automated traffic. Itβs not permanent and you should typically be able to try again in a couple hours and it will work.

If FanGraphs were to offer the option to place a custom message on a player page (or even a section of the site) is that something you would be interested in? We are exploring ways of supplanting advertising revenue with more direct ways of funding our efforts.
This is a bit of a mystery on our end too. I'm going to have to ask our image provider about it.
Sorry, made a mistake here. For 2024 Coors is .99. Diamondbacks with roof open is 1.14, so Coors is definitely a lot lower. I was looking at an adjusted air density calculation that doesn't give a correct picture.
Average air density for 2025 games in AZ (measured near Chase) is considerably lower at 1.141 than the average at any park location during game time in-season. Lowest is 1.173 and that's Chase and that's only when the roof is open.

That's very kind of you, but please do log-in. There's lots of great Member features and you can't get your custom year end FanGraphs Walk-Off if you don't log in. It's also just a better experience in general.
The playing time projections change regularly. Was there some specific change you were looking for, or trying to figure out if we made?
Thanks for your support! You shouldn't be seeing any ads as a member. If for some reason you are, send a note to support@fangraphs.com and I'll take a look to see what the problem is.
Yes, pitchers have their own framing metric which is part of FanGraphs WAR.
