I didn’t even dabble in bias, just the limits of our own character. It fascinates me how we try to build ‘new’ worlds, yet stay limited by our own wiring.
Maybe one day I’ll build a truly alien world... but for now, common fantasy will have to do.

In the rural reaches, magic is a quiet curse. Though the weaves are used for their benefit, the common folk meet every blessing with a sideways glance. Strangers are feared for how they might twist a quiet life, and every hardship is seen as a mage’s debt—one they are always forced to pay.
Since the King controls the castes, they are woven into the justice system; every trial must rule out magical interference. Amulets against the manipulation of time, chance, or words are common, as is fraud. Safety is a commodity for the rich.
