Gunn heavily leans on comic roots and lore for what is an imperfect (but very enjoyable) blockbuster. It’s no game changer, but it’s safe to say DC is back.
Imagine a triangle where the director has to
-Make a Superman film for comic fans.
-World build the new DC Cinematic Universe.
-Make an accessible film for casual audiences.
