It’s coming up on nearly 2 years since I bought my Creality K1 3D printer, and I immensely regret preordering it. Currently won’t print because it refuses to accept the values that the bed sensors are returning, and now it’s out of warranty so Creality support is nearly useless.
It’s hypocritical of the US govt to fear algo weaponization since they’ve already influenced US social media companies to change the content that gets promoted through their algos. I just think it’s more frightening than a US citizen having their consumption data in the hands of the CCP
A lot of folks seem to be focused on the TikTok ban from a point of data privacy concerns, and I think they miss the mark a little. I think the real fear behind the ban was the potential for the Chinese government to use the TikTok algo to push destabilizing content to US users.

We are definitely in the “try to add AI to everything” phase, but there are some truly interesting use cases. AI generated meeting summaries/transcripts are a god send for corporate life with ADHD
