I also just like the idea that everyone is a 'dual-stance' character. One stance is a traditional fighting game character, the other stance is a more limited, silly form with wonky hitboxes. Optimus Primal is 100% a grappler in gorilla form, but a bruiser character in robot form.

Have the transformations assigned to a button. You build 'Energon Rad' meter while in robot mode and if the Rad meter maxes out you start taking chip damage and cant build super meter.
