This assumes there's some global referee or even a global court that can adjudicate "fairness" in global politics. The scary part is that no such thing exists.

The problem with a rules-based order is that you need a global police who has actual power. The UN doesn't. And we keep seeing that if rules aren't enforced then they aren't real.

Any move by China is going to be first met by Japan, not the US. And the war will quickly escalate in a way that nobody can predict.

One day I'll write a Pokemon article for @liberalcurrents.com. The way we interact with people from different cultures has changed if only that we have the same language.

I've met people from around the world and traded Pokemon. We can connect in a way previous generations can't comprehend.

The world has changed so much in just thirty years.

They changed Murkow because they worried it was too witchy for the west. Today, they complimented a fan crochet of a new Pokemon they revealed in a global trailer.

Global culture has folded in on itself in a way it's hard to appreciate.
