need something that replaces when someone uses a fake made-up demonym for Americans with the correct word “American” so that these other idiotic mistakes never have to cross my eyes again.

LLMs are nothing more than models of the distribution of the word forms in their training data, with weights modified by post-training to produce somewhat different distributions. Unless your use case requires a model of a distribution of word forms in text, indeed, they suck and aren't useful.

Twitch could easily add bsky account connection and write that record anytime they want. It wouldn’t even be a terrible idea, as it promotes their platform. I believe they already have “post when I go live” settings for Facebook and Twitter.

Right, those are the same code. I assume they did that because the alternative was having people put that record in their repo and then just leave it there forever even when they were no longer live because they either forgot to remove it or they want to abuse the live indicator.

That’s only if you set it yourself in the app. Your streaming service can set it automatically on your behalf with no duration by writing a record to your repo and then deleting it when you’re no longer live, like @stream.place does.

That hasn’t been true for some time. There are people running all parts of the stack pretty cheaply these days. The Relay and AppView were the last two big ones. The Relay got extremely cheap with Sync 1.1, and the first full AppViews are being stood up now.

Also I don’t want to deal with things like bandwidth and blob storage if somebody decides they want to run a bunch of requests against my PDS for some reason.

I want to do this at some point but I’m afraid of my home internet going down, leaving me unable to access bsky, even over cellular, or accidentally misconfiguring it and somehow exposing my connected hard drive to the web or something lol. If anyone could, it would be me.

A funny story about me is once I scanned the wrong number of an item, something cheap like a soup, at the self checkout and accidentally stole one. Saw it on the receipt later, went “oh no.”

Later, same store, buying more of the item. Accidentally scanned one too many. Noticed later. “Ah, justice.”

Not true at all. Sometimes it’s just because the existing CEO is ready to move on and the search is taking a while. The CEO, like any employee, isn’t obligated to stay longer than they want to in a role.
