Who's the billionaire behind London’s biggest mass eviction? He's the London philanthropist who says he's committed to solving homelessness. So why is Asif Aziz's Criterion Capital rushing to make hundreds of Londoners homeless in the coming weeks?

London’s “worst mass eviction in recent history” is underway; hundreds of households across London told to get out of their homes this week by the same landlord, ahead of the renters rights act. The landlord? Billionaire Asif Aziz’s Criterion Capital. www.londoncentric.media/p/asif-aziz-...

It's 2026.

The #BAFTAS will *still* not be live on TV, meaning social media will have the results before TV viewers.

2026 Winter Olympics: Figure skater Sabate hopeful over Minions music dispute Figure skater Tomas-Llorence Guarino Sabate is optimistic he can perform to music from the Minions films at the Winter Olympics after receiving copyright clearance.

Wasn't this always going to happen?

Music rights owners Universal is part of NBC Universal, who are also the broadcast rights holders to the Olympics in the US. Also, Minions 3 is out this summer, so this all becomes free publicity.

I love #shrinking, but I wish they would lay off the f1.0 lens. There's "shallow depth of field," and then there's "everything else in the scene is a complete blur"

I find it interesting that in the sports media sector, nobody seems to have deep enough pockets to get talent exclusively. The Overlap has a lot of Sky personalities, The Rest Is Football was built on then BBC personalities. Meanwhile Sky Sports/BBC Sport now has a massive crossover of presenters.

Global acquires majority stake in sports media group The Overlap Strategic partnership will see The Overlap and Global grow a network of video-led media brands in football and other sports.

Global really is leaning into podcasts heavily. Following their acquisition of The Fellas Studios last year, and the launch of Global Studios, they've followed this up with a majority stake in The Overlap:

It's Christmas Eve, and as usual, I've put together my picks of the festive fare from the double issue of The Radio Times.

Astonishing story of a DAB radio service having its IP transmission stream hijacked by its own streaming vendor to broadcast obscenities instead of the radio output for *30* mins!

Seemingly, because of a contract dispute between the vendor & another mux provider!

Former LBC and Radio 2 presenter Brian Hayes dies aged 87 Brian Hayes, the broadcaster known for shaping early phone-in radio at LBC and later hosting shows on BBC Radio 2, has died

Very sad to hear that Brian Hayes has died. I grew up listening to him on LBC. RIP.

So would I! That said, I've not watched Stranger Things since I bailed on it in the second season. So perhaps that's why they're not really bothering me with that?

Genuinely don't understand Netflix's interface choices. I open it up today, and the show they're giving top billing on my account is an 10 year old BBC crime show that got cancelled after one series called Cuffs.

I'm pretty sure that's not the biggest show they have on right now...

When is too much?

By my count Deadline has published at least *18* stories about Stranger Things in the past week, with 10 of them in the last 24 hours.

New #RAJAR is out, and I've been number crunching:

- 50m/86% of UK listen to the radio weekly
- Gap widens between Commercial Radio and the BBC
- Overall falls for speech radio
- Global extends lead over Bauer
- 28.3% of the population listen to podcasts each week

Lime's biggest problem is that so many are unfit to be on the road. And you can't properly report them as damaged. Santander does at least allow that. But completely agree on payment for that. Painful even with a UK card in the app. It feels like C London is completely overrun by Lime right now.

Ooh. A science doc perhaps? Or natural history? Maybe a hard hitting doc on the misuse of technology or the dangers of social media?

Murray did so much across British radio and sometimes television. From Radio Luxembourg, Top of the Pops, Juke Box Jury, one of the original Radio 1 presenters, then Radio 2, right through to LBC where I used to listen to him as a kid in the 80s.

Happy birthday!

I understand why.

The news rolls on. Martin Scorsese & Dustin Hoffman will take their own time to respond. But finding random comic actors on X is just meaningless.

You may as well ask someone waiting at the bus stop who quite liked Butch and Sundance what they think. It's just as relevant.

So, the media outlet becomes slightly less discerning. A reality star who was unconnected with the famous person says something nice and it's reported. A newspaper columnist who also has no connection puts out something because they're extremely online. It's hoovered up and republished.

Why?

Someone incredibly famous dies, and the live blog kicks into play at lots of media outlets.

They need to fill it quickly with tributes. But it takes a while before those the person worked closely with or was peers with put out a statement or a quote.
