This is a hell of a thing to read.
"If you're an artist using [generative AI], we're looking at it like, 'this is scab behavior'."
I am heartbroken to hear the news that ROBERT E MCGINNIS has past away March 10th at the age of 99. One of the greatest American Illustrators ever is gone and not a single piece on the news anywhere about the man, his influence and his life.
Stop sharing the Ghibli AI slop, what is wrong with you:

Private surgical facilities in Alberta are starving the public system of staff and funding to perform priority procedures, according to a new report that concludes the province has yet to increase surgical capacity or reduce wait times as pledged. #ableg www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

This should be the end of every discretionary trip to the States by Canadians & every other national.
How does the guy whoβs speedrunning the destruction of both our schools and our healthcare system manage to survive at a time when incumbent governments around the world are falling left and right?
This province is so stupid.
We shared it with our kids' class group chats!
Thank you! It's been hard to find any information about this race aside from candidate websites which are all short on details. Diana Goldie is the only candidate who's come to my door and she told me that she wants to reverse the current TDSB focus on black students and "woke" policies!
Not knowing because you know you didn't read it seems less potentially harmful than thinking that you know it but you actually don't because AI lied to you. You'll end up with a completely misplaced sense of security and the liability will be 100% on you.
Except that youβd have to read the entire policy anyways to ensure that the AI didnβt hallucinate or omit anything important.
βCanada should quickly convene a meeting of the leaders of Denmark, Panama, Mexico, as well as with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, to formulate a plan for fighting back these threats.β
For years, the public has called them "fake artists." But internally at Spotify, the program has name: Perfect Fit Content. My investigation, and the first look into my book Mood Machine, is the January cover at @harpers.bsky.social

Thank you! Most of the work was in scaling and resizing the existing UI for Alpha's screen, but it was cool that we got to build the custom Alpha game browser to give it some extra polish.
In spite of this I feel more secure now than I ever have as both a designer and a design leader. I've grown more in the past 3 years than I have at any other point in my career.
By the end of the 2010s I knew that the design that I had practiced for the past decade wasnβt going to continue to exist, especially being a designer who came out of human factors engineering and HCI, but man the change came real quick.
Thereβs been a march towards the commoditization of design throughout my 15 year career that I at one point celebrated because I was blind to the inevitable outcome. This past year Iβve invested in expanding my capacity for creativity because it will always be what separates us from the machines.
The Street Fighter and Mega Man Evercade Alphas powered on and sitting on top of a bookshelf.
Happy Evercade Alpha release week! I finally got my pair set up. Having these in my basement an armβs reach away from where I work is a dream come true. The fact that I get to boot them up and see the UI that I designed is still something that Iβm trying to wrap my head around.
Thank you for your service.
Itβs unbelievable that these companies are actively pushing for this. How does anyone working in product or design on these platforms muster the motivation to get out of bed in the morning?
One of the coolest bits of gaming hardware I've gotten my hands on recently is the @evercade.bsky.social Alpha - read my review over at @wired.com
I hope that it doesn't make him feel bad about how little that PO thinks about their work and expertise. If he's lucky the author will append a sentence at the end of their article explaining that of course the human touch is still important and designers remain crucial for a bit at the beginning.
I wonder how this guy is going to feel the next time they read an article by a product owner who's always struggled with design but can now leverage AI to put out good enough without having to pay a pesky professional designer.
Course served in Alinea's kitchen. Row of bowls lined on along the kitchen counter in front of the sommelier filled mixed drink glasses from a drink fountain.
Intricate colourful rooster incense holder glassware holding cinnamon, incense and herbs sitting on a heavily-garnished communal plate containing the course.
Intricate glassware holding a gold-covered funnel cake. Glassware designed to look like an extension of the funnel cake.
Dessert designed and presented as an abstract painting.
Had dinner at Alinea in the Gallery this weekend in Chicago. Such a beautifully designed multisensory experience. Particularly love how they collaborate with Ignite Glass Studio to produce unique glassware for individual courses.
Had an absolute blast reviewing the new Evercade Alpha arcade machine, and I'm looking forward to playing lots of Truxton 2 on it. www.gamesradar.com/hardware/eve...
First review has dropped for the Alpha! We're only a month away now!
We're going to be using the same unified UI that we've shipped to all consoles, but of course there will be a spiffy new section for the Capcom games.
Happy Evercade Alpha announcement day! It's nice to be able to finally talk openly about them and I can't wait to play these with my kids!
