Damien, a new nurse on the Burns Unit, always wanted to follow his mum and aunt into nursing.

He helps patients recover from burns or skin loss, celebrating every small win. “I wouldn’t be where I am now without my amazing team,” he says. #MSETeam 💙

Shoutout to Sarah for running three #Disney races in memory of baby George. His parents, Beccy and Tom, were supported by Southend Hospital’s bereavement team. Sarah’s fundraising, match-funded by her company, will help The Butterfly Suite support grieving families.

They helped Dilara, 25, who suffered severe burns at 8. Advanced laser treatments softened her scars and boosted her confidence. Now she is training as a nurse and praises the team's life-changing care. #NHSsky 💙

Congratulations to Melanie and family who welcomed their Christmas Day baby, Freddie. He was the first boy born on Christmas Day at Southend Hospital.

Melanie said: "I still can’t quite believe we have a Christmas Day baby! His big sisters, Lily and Maisie, think he is the best present ever.”

At Southend Hospital, Ward Manager Jade has spent 10 years spreading festive cheer. From gifts for patients to personalised presents for staff, she ensures everyone feels cared for. Jade says: "It’s about letting people know they’re not alone." Southend Hospital's very own Santa! 🎅
